The Light Sleeper, created by Shimon Dotan and produced by Abot Hameiri Productions, depicts the avalanche of overt antisemitism at universities and among the Z generation, following the Hamas attack, and Israel’s counterattack on Hamas in Gaza. The goal of the film is to explore the present outburst of antisemitism among the younger generation and at the same time create a film that takes an overarching view of one of the most enduring phenomena of social disorder. Antisemitism is a phenomenon that transcends the Jewish world and constantly reinvents itself, adapting to social, political, economic, and technological changes.
